More about the human spirit, the vision & courage to overcome, is the way I would describe the Paralympics. Unlike the regular Olympics though there was at best minimal broadcast coverage of the Paralympics – the athletes were just or more as graceful, endeavoring & beautiful. Courage & effort were more evident. –MORE–

Fahim Rahimi is the only Afghanistan representative to Paralympics 2012 that kicked off today in London. He represents more than two generations & thousands who have been permanently affected/disabled by serial conflicts. Bosnia & Herzegovina after 1992 war started to field its first teams in 1996. From landmines to snipers, a potential Paralympic champion is made with every explosion or bullet. –MORE–

If personal success/fame & endorsements are the measure, then Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps are biggest winners still. However, the measure is how a victory or even performance may change the course of social evolution/thinking. On this level, Gabby Douglas becoming first African-American woman to win the “All-Around Gymnastics” Gold is significant.  –MORE–
