Despite threats from Taliban, insecurity & a challenging geography, a UN/Afghanistan government program to eradicate measles & polio has vaccinated over 8 million children in the country within just the last month – there is a need for more funding/support to complete the effort over next 2 months. Vaccination is an urgent effort to stop spread of polio – 13 cases already reported this year in Afghanistan & 25 across border in Pakistan. –More–

Blog Report: UN CONDEMNS NATO & TALIBAN ATTACKS THAT KILL CIVILIANS, By Ambassador Mo
At least 4 separate attacks killed 40 civilians, including 10 children, & injured at least 67 others, & UN called for those responsible to be held accountable. UN News Centre cited media reports that identified two Taliban suicide bombings and a NATO airstrike that Afghan officials say killed 18 civilians. –More–
